Twin Falls County Zoning and Subdivision Code Update

Welcome to the Twin Falls County Code Update Website!

Twin Falls County is updating its zoning and subdivison regulations, based on the Twin Falls
County Comprehensive Plan adopted by the County Commission in 2008. The emphasis
of the project is take a critical look at County policies to see how these regulations can best
provide a roadmap for future develpment and proctection of resources. Overall, the revision
will strive not only to ensure that regulations are relevant to today's concerns, but also to
produce a document that is understandable and easy to use. The emphasis of the overall
project is on implementing the Comprehensive Plan and creating a more logical and
transparent body of regulations, rather than imposing new regulations on land use
and development.

Updating the zoning and subdivision regulations is often "the next step" after a Comprehensive
Plan is adopted because it is a key component for implementing a Comprehensive Plan.
Zoning and subdivsion regulations establish the detailed rules for what and where things can
be built, and how the project will be reviewed before being constructed. May of the goals and objectives listed in the County's Comprehensive Plan are translated by way of the zoning and subdivision regulations into specific standards that, in turn, regulate land development.

The process is intended to be open to the public, and is designed to allow several access
points where the public can be involved, either through direct comments about the existing requirements or by commenting on the reports and recommendations for any proposed
changes. Your comments are needed, as they will be helpful in developing any proposed
changes that better reflect the needs of Twin Falls County.
